If the LG washing machine does not drain the waste water, this most likely indicates the appearance of a” plug ” somewhere on the release path. There is a high probability that a sock or some other small piece of clothing is stuck in the pump pump or its coupling. Such a malfunction can be completely eliminated independently.

The problem is less likely to be a broken pump. In this case, the LG washing machine also does not drain. However, you will not be able to fix this problem yourself.

But before contacting the service center, you should try to fix the problem yourself. Fortunately, LG washing machines are quite easy to disassemble, and all you need is a screwdriver and “straight hands”.

If the washing machine has stopped draining waste water, then you can try to eliminate the blockage yourself. To do this, you will need:

Tray for draining the remaining soapy water in the drum;

Lots of old towels to avoid flooding the neighbors;

Instructions that show you where the exhaust filter is located;

Pliers or adjustable wrench for tightening the clamp;

Sobriety, confidence and steady hands.

The latter is the most important thing. It is not difficult to disassemble and assemble the LG washing machine so that it retains its functionality after all these “operations”. But wrong actions can lead to the fact that the damage will be more extensive – and you will have to buy expensive spare parts.

A little theory before practice

To understand exactly where the necessary elements are located, it is worth understanding exactly how the LG washing machine drains water. This happens in the following way:

There is no exhaust valve in the washing machine. Instead, the drain hose is located above the tank level and, according to the law of communicating vessels, is also filled when filling – but not completely;

The tank is connected to the sewer system through a system of four components-a drain coupling, a pump pump, a drain filter and a drain hose;

The drained water first enters the coupling, from there it is pumped by the pump through the filter into the drain hose, and from there it is sent to the sewer.

The pump is designed for pumping the water level. When it turns on, it simply pumps liquid from the tank to the sewer.

As a result, if there is a traffic jam in one of these places – then the entire highway is blocked. And the LG washing machine doesn’t drain the water.

So, let’s try to eliminate the blockage yourself. The most difficult part in this process is to lift the washing machine and install it on the tray in such a way that the leak sensor and electric motor do not get wet when draining. If possible, the ideal solution is to install the device in the garage or on two stable stools.

Of course, before all operations, the washing machine must be de-energized, disconnected from the water supply and, if possible, from the sewer. Before turning off the water supply, turn off the water in the apartment or on the hose leading to the “washing machine”.

Cleaning the drain filter

The outlet (drain) filter is designed to contain small debris that should not enter the sewer. If towels or other fibrous items were washed in the “car”, it may be clogged with lint and not allow water to pass through.

The drain filter in LG washing machines is located in the lower-left corner. Access to it is made through a small hatch in the front.

Lift the washing machine or place multiple towels under it to absorb water;

Remove the plastic cover of the hatch;

Remove the drain filter. Be prepared for the fact that water can gush out of it;

Rinse the exhaust filter under running water;

Clean the filter base with a brush, cotton swab, or even a simple finger.

If water really gushed out of the device after removing the filter (step 3) – the blockage was in this place. However, if the liquid was previously scooped out or drained in any other way, only a few drops will appear from the resulting hole.

It is necessary to visually assess the degree of contamination of the filter. If it really has a lot of lint or similar “garbage”, then the problem could be in it. It is worth filling the washing machine with water – at least partially-and trying to drain it.

Cleaning the drain coupling

A drain coupling connects the tank to the pump. And it is in it that such items of clothing as socks, underwear, and other “little things”are most often stuck. This “plug”, in turn, does not allow water to drain.

The drain coupling looks like a thick rubber hose that comes out of a socket at the bottom of the tank. In this case, it is most advisable to remove it from the side that attaches it to the pump pump – this is faster and will allow you to detect a blockage at one of the following “levels”.

Be sure to lift the LG washing machine and place it above the tray. When removing the drain coupling, in any case, a lot of water flows out, which should not get on either the wet sensor or the electric motor, in order to avoid more serious breakdowns;

Remove the back panel of the washing machine. It is usually supported by several bolts. Be careful – often both the back panel itself and the body surrounding it are made of thin sheet iron with sharp edges;

Find the coupling. Loosen the clamp that connects it to the pump pump. The clamp can be wire-then you will have to make an effort to detach it – or in the form of an aluminum tape with a bolt attachment that needs to be deployed;

Disconnect the coupling from the pump and immediately point the bell downwards, as water will flow out of it;

Use a plumbing dipstick to check that there are no plugs in the coupling all the way to the drum. If there are any, try removing them with your fingers. If it doesn’t work, remove the coupling and push them out with a plumbing dipstick. Attention! Do not push dirt into the tank.

If the ill-fated sock or similar piece of clothing was in the clutch, install it in place and check the operation of the washing machine.

When installing the coupling, it is very important to securely fix and seal it with a clamp. Otherwise, it will leak, which will negatively affect both the quality of the floor covering and relations with neighbors from below.

Cleaning the pump pump

If there are no blockages in the coupling, and the LG washing machine still does not drain, then you should check the cleanliness of the pump pump. Structurally, this device consists of a special discharge chamber, in which there is an impeller controlled by an electric motor located outside.

Your task is to open the camera. It is supported by several bolts, which are quite simple to deploy.

Let’s assume that your washing machine is already on the tray and the coupling is removed from it.

Remove the mounting bolts that secure the pressure chamber cover;

After pointing the pump downwards, remove the cover. Water must not flood the humidity sensor, the windings of the electric motor and the drive of the pump itself;

Remove dirt from the pump.

All. Now check the impeller. It should be easy to rotate and are not blocked. If you can’t turn it, it’s likely that the pump is simply broken and will need to be replaced.

Also at this stage, you can check for contamination in the drain hose. To do this, put a plumbing dipstick (cable) in it from the outside, after unscrewing the exhaust filter. The cable must pass through the entire hose, leaving somewhere in the pump area.

What should I do if cleaning didn’t help?

If all parts of the drain path are cleaned – both the coupling, pump, and hose-and the LG washing machine still does not drain water, then you need to contact the service center. The reasons for this “behavior” may be different.

The first option is that the drain pump has blown out. This is rare, but it happens. For example, the” bones ” of the bra get stuck in it, after which the impeller is blocked and when you try to turn it, the drive simply burns out. In this case, the pump needs to be changed.

The second option is that the current-carrying circuits to the pump are broken. You will need to restore contacts, lay new wires, and so on. This is also a task for a service center specialist.

And the third option is that the control Board itself is damaged. The problem is very serious, the module will have to be called, inspected, flashed, and so on, and in critical cases – completely changed. And it is also better to do this in a service center.
